4 Days In Sydney
Finally we start our trip around in Australia! We went by bus monday night from Melbourne to Sydney, and this is our 4th and last day here. Even though we still like Melbourne a lot more than Sydney (Sydney is so much more business people than Melbourne, which got more coffee shops and good shopping), we really enjoy our stay here. Specially the beaches! We have been out to Manly and Bondi, and we just loved it.
Tomorrow we'll pick up our van and start our roadtrip! I cant wait to hit the road, buy a surfboard and go surfing!
Last Weekend In Melbourne
Ít feels so weird, this is réally our last weekend here in Melbourne. Tonihgt we're gonna have some friends over for a drink, and then we're going out for dinner. After that, the very last night out in Melbourne.
On Sunday morning Alice, Yazzmine and I will catch a bus at 7am to Willsom Prom.. no sleep this night!
And on Monday we're leaving our appartment, and are catching a night bus to Sydney. Finally on the way! This month will be great, Australia Eastcoast HERE WE COME!!
Flights booked!
I've spend the last 3 hours online finding the cheapest way to get home from New Zealand, with a stop by in Germany to visit Anna, Sarah, Stella and Michelle there. And believe me, I got those tickets soo cheap, it's almost unbelievable!
So anyway, this is how I will travel:
April 13-14: Flight from Cairns (Australia) to Auckland (New Zealand).
April 22-23: Flight from Auckland to Frankfurt.
April 28: Train from Frankfurt to Hamburg
May 4: Train from Hamburg to Kopenhagen,
May 4: Train from Kopenhagen to Gothenburg. HOME!
So when I get home in may I have been out traveling for excatly half a year, just as planned. It feels so good to finally have the tickets, and know where I'm going! I didn't travel around New Zealand so much this time, well, I still have a lot of years ahead of me to do that trip, New Zealand isn't going anywhere!
Shopping & Picnic
Worked until 4pm today, then a quick run home to change before I met Isabelle and Yazzmine on Chappel Street for some shopping. Now we're back home again, preparing some dinner for our picnic in the botanic garden. Later tonight we're gonna watch Sex And The City. Just another great day in Melbourne!
Finally An Update!
SORRY for not updating my blog! Life in Melbourne is way to much fun so there is not much time left to spend at the cmputer (specially since there is 4 of us, all fighting for Alice MacBook). Anyway.. I'm safe, enjoying my time here and are as far away from home sicknes as possible. Still no home ticket, but I do got a flight ticket to New Zealand! The 13th of April I'm gonna go visit Cilla! And we also booked the van for our roadtrip. So the 1st of March we're heading to Sydney to spend a week there, and then we're gonna drive from Sydney to Cairns, which will take us 35 days.
Ok guys, now we're heading in to the city for some shopping and coffee!
Oh, and even if I dont have a flight ticket home yet, I just promised my parents I'll be home no later than the 8th of May. So Sweden, time to start the countdown!
Great Ocean Road
The 3 day trip we had last week along the great ocean road was just so amazing! We saw some beutiful beaches, the twelve apostles, and had some great views over the coastline. We saw koalas and kangaroos in the wild, and did a 2 hours hiking up a mountain to get such a sceenic vies on the top (It was raining and we were all soaked, but we were still in a good mood and had lots of fun together!). One of the best things we did was when we went up at 6am on tuesday morgning to go quad biking! It was tuns of fun to drive around in the Australian wilderness, and we saw a lot of kangaroos as well. We had some great days together and we really enjoyed the trip. As always we took hundreads of pictures, so I have a lot to show you when I get home!
Now I have been working a lot, but this coming week there is a lot going on: On tuesday we're gonna have a roadtrip to Philip Island to see the "penguin parade", and also visit some beaches on the way there. On wednesday we're going to the Tennis Open, and on thursday my dad will be here!
Cookies & Chocolate
Alice and I was up early in the morning today, and went out to run arond the botanic garden, a 4 km run. It felt so good afterwards, and again, it was the perfect way to start the day. And we had breakfast on the balcony together before she went to work. An hour later I woke up Yazzmine, and after another hour we went in to the city together. There we went to the Cathedral to have a look in there, before we took a tram out to a small café in the suburb. It was such a cute café, and we enjoyed a cake and a cappucino for about 2 hours, just talking about everything and nothing. It was so nice to spend some time with Yazzmine, just the two of us. When she had to go to work, I met up Carl and Alexander, and we walked around in the city. First a walk in Chinatown, and then enjoyed a free latte at Alice restaurant. Then we went to the Yarra River for a picnic. They had some sushi and I had my glutenfree sanwiches with tomato and mushrooms. And some chocolate with hazelnuts I had over from the day before. After our picnic we continued our city walk, and went to the casino. Carl played a few dollars at the slot mashines, and 10 minutes later we walked out with a dollar more than we walked in with. Then we walked along the Yarra River, all the way into the Royal Botanic Garden, where we relaxed on the grass in the sunlight. Now we're back home again, waiting for the others to get back home. We're gonna have an relaxing night home tonight, have dinner together and maybee watch some movies.
Good times in Melbourne.
Sunshine Day
What a day! Isabelle and I started the day with a walk in the Botanic Garden, and then a big breakfast on the balcony. Perfect start of the day! An hour later Yazzmine, Gaby, Andres and I played tennis all together in the sunshine. Loved it. Then home for a shower, and then out again. This time to Fitzroy Gardens in the city. We relaxed in the sun and just enjoyed life. Then we met up Alex and Carl, Alice´s friends who are gonna stay with us for a couple of days. After a quick dinner at home we went over to the Botanic Garden for an outdoor movie! Such a nice way to spend the night!
Perfect day! And the best thing is.. I'm not working until thursday night, so I have another day off tomorrow! Love the life in Melbourne.
Beach & BBQ
Finally, I had a day off! The first one in 10 days. We spend the whole day at Brighton Beach, just chilling and relaxing in the sun. We loved the beach. It was a row of small beach houses all in different colors, so of course we took over houndreds of pictures. After several hours in the sun, we took the train back home. An hour later we had baught some food for our BBQ, and we walked over to Albert Park. We had a really nice night together, grilled vegetables like corn, tomatoes, squach and onions. Soo good! Perfect day with my roomies. And if it wasn't enough with 6 people living in a 3-room appartment, we'll get 2 more tomorrow! 2 guys that Alice got to know when she lived in Norway is coming to Melbourne for a few days. So now we will be 8 people here at home..!
And next week on Sunday, we're gonna go on a 3-day trip along Great Ocean Road! We all got some days of and now we're all super excited! We're gonna go with a tourist group (haha), and they are gonna take us to the 12 apostles and hiking up a mountain and see coalas and camping. Everything is included. Perfect. We dont have to think about anything, just take pictures of all the animals and everything that we are gonna see. 6 days left, and then we're on the trip!
2010
Happy New Year!
To celebrate New Years Eve we went to a restaurant in Port Victoria, and after arrived an hour late bc of the traffic we had a great 4 course dinner, with champange and drinks. At midnight we were standing with the umbrella (Uuuummbrealla. The name of the game is uuuuuummbrella...!! Haha, inside joke.) in one hand and a glass of champange in the other one, watching the fireworks in the rain.
So much have happened since last new years eve. Then I was in a freezing cold Minneapolis and celebrated with the other girls over there. And now here, a year later on the other side of the world in summer Australia. I just spend 2 weeeks at home last year, this year I'm gonna spend more! But this year have been so amazing. I've got to know so many friends and the summer I spend in Minneapolis was just the best ever. And the trip I'm on right now is also something so special. 2009 was a great year, now I'm looing forward to see whats gonna happen 2010!
Count Down
What a day. I went up early today to start work at 8.30am. After 5 hours I got a break and went into the city to meet my roomies. Isabelle and I went shopping together, for an New Years Eve outfit and some champange. We changed our plans for tomorrow night, instead of Sensation White we're gonna have a luxury 3 course dinner at a restaurant in Port Victoria. At midnight we're gonna toast with champange and watch the fireworks. We're all looking forward for tomorrow!!
Summertimes..?! New Years Eve..?!
It´s 7am in the morning and I'm getting ready to leave for my work. Even if I'm working a lot I still have some great days here in Melbourne. Yesterday I went with Yazzmine, her boyfriend and her sister (who also are here now, they both arrived last weekend), to Port Victoria. It was a nice place to just walk around in, and we ended up at a cafe/restaurant/bar with some coffees. Great night together! The night before that, we went up in the Melbourne Observation deck, to get a view of the city from the 55th floor. We were there at sunset and saw the sun go down and the city get dark and then lighned up by all the lights.
Tomorrow is New Years Eve! It doesn't feel like it at all.. it's summer over here! We were planning to go to Sensation White, but now we're thinking of maybee go to a New Yeras Celebration on a roof top bar.. haven't really decided yet, haha.
So now we're 6 people sharing a 3-room appartment, and so far it's really nice. There is always someone to hang out with, and we just can't get enough of each other!
Christmas In The Summer
So here is a short version of everything that has happened the last couple of days. Mostly we just enjoy life and enjoy having our own appartment. Christmas didn't really feel like christmas, it's summer here! Still pretty good though, I''m having summer for 1,5 year ;)
Thursday: Christmas eve! I actually worked the whole day until 5, but then we spend the evening the 4 of us together. We went to the swedish church, had some rice porrige and met some other swedish girls. An hour later we went home to our appartment to continue the night at home. We hade a 3 course dinner, with eggs and "kalles kaviar" as an entree, and then "köttbullar, lingonsylt, prinskorv och janssons frestelse". Our dessert was "chokladpraliner, pepparkakor och glögg med mandlar och russin". We really enjoyed the food and just speding time the 4 of us together. After the big dinner we were all so tiered we almost fell asleep in the couch. I called home and talked to my parents, it was so nice to talk to them again. It feels like we really did the best we could of chrismas.
Friday: Christmas day. Alice and I took a long walk in the morning, and then we breakfast on the balcony. Really nice to finally spend some time with Alice, since we're usually working so different hours we just see each other for 10 min every day. We spend the rest of the day with Isabelle in the botanic garden, just relaxing in the sun. We went out later in the night, and I didn't get many hours of sleep that night. But I did remember to call my host family to wish them merry Christmas. It was sooo nice to hear them again! How I miss my life in MN! But I'm so glad to still be in contact with both my family and friends there.
The weekend: Working. Working. Working.
The rest of the week: Working even more. And sensation White on New Years Eve!! Thats really gonna be something!
Melbourne Luck
I really got the luck with me, and after spending the whole Monday looking for job several restaurants and cafes called me on Tuesday. So I had a trial on Republic Cafe on Tuesday night, and today I worked over 8 hours on cafe Picnic. I had a trial tonight as well, but they called and cancelled bc they only could offer me 15 hours per week to work, and they know I'm looking for more. Anyway, it all went really well on both Republic & Picnic, so I'm gonna contine to work on both (since I'm not sure how many hours they can offer me).
I have a lot more to write, but I'm gonna go to the park and read book before the sun goes down. Love to be outside!
